With Baited Breath

We wait!

It's been election day here for hours and hours!! All of us expats flung to the far corners of the globe are in knots waiting for the election results! The conversations here have been pretty amusing, but most Swazi's like most Africans are in favor of Obama...probably because of his African heritage more than they know his stance on things.

It's interesting because for the most part, all aid workers/development peeps/embassy folk swing left, and way left...but then you come across the occasional missionary and it brings a perspective (welcome or not) that had been missing.

In any case, we're pretty sick of the news stories about the campaign, which I'm sure everyone at home is as well...so now we wait!!

I hope everyone reading this today goes out to vote!! It's a right that not everyone in this world has, which is more obvious to me than ever before now that I'm living in a kingdom. There is very little say about anything here, and even though the king makes people happy, for the most part, and he's not an evil dictator, there is a lot that could and should change, and the people have almost no power to change it.

SO go do it! Do it for all the people who can't...
